Implementation of the New Client and Patient Information System Progresses – Temporary Disruption in Prescription Renewals in February

In these municipalities, the new system will also be adopted in social services, including residential and institutional care units, day activity centers, and homecare services.
– The transition to the new system may cause temporary delays or service disruptions in certain healthcare and dental healthcare services. The data transfer process may particularly affect prescription renewals, says Chief Information Officer Pia Haglund.
Prescription renewals may experience delays and slowdowns for a few weeks. Therefore, we recommend that any prescriptions expiring in mid-February and requiring renewal be renewed no later than February 11, 2025.
Electronic prescription renewals will not be possible in Vaasa, Laihia, Korsholm, Vörå, Malax, Korsnäs, and Närpes on February 12–16, 2025. During this period, prescriptions cannot be renewed through MyKanta or pharmacies for healthcare units located in these municipalities.
Prescription renewals will continue as normal in the wellbeing services county’s other municipalities.
New Digital Service Channel
Current digital service channels for healthcare in Vaasa, Laihia, Korsholm, Vörå, Malax, Korsnäs, and Närpes will be temporarily unavailable on February 15–16, 2025, before the new system goes live. This temporary disruption will also affect digital services in Kaskinen and Kristinestad, where the new system is already in use.
The new digital service channel will be launched on February 17, 2025, offering broader services than before.
Changes to SMS Reminders
The implementation of the new system will also affect SMS reminders. If you have an appointment on February 17–18, you may not receive an SMS reminder as expected.
Consent for SMS reminders was requested in a different way in the old systems, meaning that not all clients will automatically receive reminders after the transition. To continue receiving SMS notifications for appointments, you must give consent for SMS reminders and alerts.
Once the new system is in use, you can log into the digital service channel, the Citizen Portal. Click “Contact info” in the top right corner, and check the box for “Permission to send reminders by text message”. Detailed instructions are available on our website.
Accept Information about Kanta Services
We recommend logging into MyKanta before February 15, 2025, to ensure that you have received the notification titled ”Information about Kanta Services”. This information explains how your data is used in social and healthcare services, and you can update your consent for sharing patient information or set restrictions. If you have given consent for sharing your data, your information will be accessible to healthcare professionals treating you, even across different wellbeing services counties.
Once you update your information in MyKanta, the receipt of the Kanta Information and your consent for sharing patient data will be updated in the new healthcare client and patient information system, making it visible to professionals.

System Implementation Continues in March
The joint Lifecare client and patient information system is being gradually implemented across all social and healthcare services in the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia.
– The final implementation phase will take place in March, when specialized healthcare and the remaining social services adopt the new system. In Jakobstad, Larsmo, Nykarleby, Pedersöre, and Kronoby, primary healthcare and dental healthcare have been using an older version of Lifecare. These areas will also transition to the new, joint system in March, says Haglund.
