Infectious Diseases
At the clinic of the Chief Medical Officer for Infectious Diseases, we treat various inflammatory and infectious diseases. A referral to the outpatient clinic may be obtained e.g. after a prolonged fever period or a long-lasting and difficult-to-treat inflammation.
The clinic also treats chronically ill patients; for instance, the follow-up of HIV patients is the Chief Medical Officer’s responsibility. The Chief Medical Officer acts as an expert in the whole Vaasa Hospital District regarding matters that are established in the Finnish Communicable Diseases Act, and matters concerning internal medicine, epidemics, and hospital hygiene details.
