Rheumatology is a specialized field that focuses on the study, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal, connective tissue, and adjacent soft tissue diseases, pain disorders, and functional disorders. These include e.g. inflammatory muscular, skeletal, connective tissue, and blood vessel diseases; inflammatory and degenerative (erosive) joint and spine diseases; and metabolic disorders in the musculoskeletal system.
