Wound treatment usually starts at the nurses’ clinic of a health station. However, for challenging wounds, a wound care nurse's assessment may be required.
In wound treatment, a wound care nurse plans, implements, and evaluates local care for a variety of chronic wounds.
The wound care nurse’s appointment is by referral from a doctor or nurse. The wound care nurse collaborates with all multi-professional teams involved in wound patient care.
The wound care nurse advises, guides and trains staff, patients and clients in wound care as well as in the use of local treatment products and in the preventive treatment of wounds.
