Transportation Service
Transportation service is aimed at persons who are unable to use public transport due to a long-term disability, injury, or illness.
A person is considered to have a severe disability if he or she has particular challenges with movement and is unable to use public transport without excessive difficulties due to his or her disability or illness.
Transportation service can be used for running errands and leisure travel. If the person has been granted an escort, he or she may accompany the individual on the trip free of charge.
Transportation service may also be granted for study or work trips.
The service may not be used for trips to the doctor, hospital, or rehabilitation because the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela) may reimburse such travels.
The Finnish Act on Disability Services and Assistance gives the right to at least 18 one-way trips per month.
Transport service cards or tickets granted allow travel within a person’s own municipality and to nearby municipalities.
Apply by completing the form and attaching a medical certificate.
