Self-service check-in kiosks are being introduced at the Central Hospital’s oncology unit, the joint accident & emergency department, specialist outpatient clinics, and the social and health centres in Korsholm, Malax and Närpes. Check-in is done by scanning the barcode or QR code on a Kela card or driver’s license, or by entering a personal identity code. Similar kiosks are already in use at several of our units.
The Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia will open an urgent care clinic in Jakobstad in February. This means that patients with urgent issues can get an appointment at the urgent care clinic on the same day. With this change, the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia will have urgent care clinics throughout the entire region.

The new Lifecare client and patient information system will be implemented on March 29, 2025, in Jakobstad, Larsmo, Pedersöre, Nykarleby and Kronoby for primary healthcare dental healthcare and specialised health care.
The new Lifecare client and patient information system will be implemented on February 15, 2025, in Vaasa, Laihia, Korsholm, Vörå, Malax, Korsnäs, and Närpes for primary healthcare and dental healthcare.
When social services professionals transitioned last autumn to Lifecare, the new client and patient information system, clients gained access to the digital Omapalvelu service channel. An increasing number of clients now submit their applications digitally.
