Teaching Clinic NoVa offers easy support for wellbeing and health

Social and healthcare students from Vaasa University of Applied Sciences VAMK and Novia University of Applied Sciences work at the clinic, guided by professionals from the Wellbeing Services County. The clinic is open to all residents of Ostrobothnia who are over the age of 18.
The teaching clinic aims to provide an accessible service to residents by harnessing the skills and knowledge of the universities of applied sciences to support the wellbeing of the community.
– In vocational schools, similar activities are already an established part of studies, for example in fields like hairdressing and cosmetology. Now, we are starting something similar to support people’s wellbeing and health, says Karina Björninen, a lecturer at VAMK.
You can visit the clinic without an appointment
The teaching clinic offers low-threshold help with a focus on prevention. If you need support for your mental wellbeing or advice on how to live a healthier life, you can stop by the clinic. You can also come in to have your blood sugar and blood pressure checked. Students can also help you use the digital services of the Wellbeing Services County.
– This is a new way to offer services to residents, making it easier to get support. You do not need to be a regular patient to visit the teaching clinic, so it is very easy to just come in, says Project Manager Mari Viljamaa.
You can visit the teaching clinic by either booking an appointment or simply walking in. The service is free. The teaching clinic is open Monday–Tuesday and Thursday–Friday at 9–15. It is located in the Alere building in Palosaari at Wolffintie 31, Vaasa.
– We encourage everyone to visit the clinic without hesitation if they need help or support. Just remember that the teaching clinic does not treat illnesses or make diagnoses. Feel free to drop by to check things like your blood pressure, adds Project Manager Jessica Nygård.
