County council

The county council is the highest decision-making body of the wellbeing services county. The county council is responsible for the services of the wellbeing services county from birth to the end of life. In the end, the wellbeing services county council decides on the best and most efficient operating methods that will benefit the entire wellbeing services county.

The council’s task is, among other things, to decide on:

• the strategy for the wellbeing services county and the social welfare and healthcare services strategy
• the service level of the emergency services
• the budget and financial plan of the wellbeing services county
• goals for operations and finances
• general grounds for customer and service fees
• the members of the wellbeing services council. The county board manages the operations, administration and finances of the wellbeing services.

Ostrobothnia’s first county council was elected on 23 January, 2022. The county council’s term of office is four years, which began on 1 March, 2022.

The county council’s agendas are published on the website of the wellbeing services about a week before the meeting. The minutes are also published on the website after the meeting (in Finnish and Swedish).

The chairman of the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia council is Mikko Ollikainen (SFP). First vice-chairman is Kim Berg (SDP), second vice-chairman is Joakim Strand (SFP), third vice-chairman is Marko Heinonen (KOK) and fourth vice-chairman is Johanna Borg (SFP).
