What will change in Ostrobothnia in 2023?
The year 2022 will be lived in Ostrobothnia as if it were an intermediate stage, when the social welfare and healthcare services of 13 municipalities will be combined under a consortium of municipalities. At the turn of 2023, the consortium will be transformed into an autonomous wellbeing services county.
At the beginning of 2023, the Rescue Department of Ostrobothnia and the services provided by special care operators in our area, Esko and Kårkulla, will become part of the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia. The municipality of Kruunupyy will also be connected to the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia.
Rescue Department
The rescue operations will become part of the wellbeing services county. The reform will ensure close cooperation between rescue operations and social welfare and healthcare services, especially in emergency medical services.
The tasks of the Rescue Department of Ostrobothnia still include fire and rescue tasks in various accident situations, as well as various advisory, supervision and preventive services defined in the Rescue Act.

Special care
The special social care services provided by special care actors in Esko and Kårkulla in Ostrobothnia, will be part of the wellbeing services county’s own operations.
From 1 January 2023, the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia will provide special social care services, such as housing services for people with special needs, as well as inclusive day and work activities and job coaching.
