Join the multicultural council!

Are you interested in coming up with ideas within a multicultural council to develop the social welfare and healthcare services, as well as rescue services, of the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia?

The Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia began its activities on 1 January, 2023. The Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia develops services together with customers and patients. Customer councils can influence the operations and services of the wellbeing services county in a customer-oriented manner in many ways.

The purpose of the council is to use insight gained from customer experiences to develop services. The customer council takes a stand on matters related to concrete services and various plans and programmes that guide operations. The customer council cannot take a position on medical decisions or services concerning individual persons.

The meetings discuss and work on proposals and recommendations for current service development issues. A statement is written about the discussion, which the council approves. The statement is given to the working group developing the service in question and the management of the wellbeing services county for use in planning and implementation. The public statements can be read on the website of the wellbeing services county.

The council of the wellbeing services county also decided to establish a multicultural council for people who have immigrated to the area and people with a foreign background who

  • have moved to Finland themselves, or
  • have parents who have moved to Finland, or
  • have a parent who was born abroad.

This council is called a multicultural council (administrative rule 33/customer councils). 10-15 members are elected to the council and its term of office is 1 June 2023 – 31 May 2025. The compensation for participation is 60€/meeting and travelling expenses are reimbursed.

We are hoping for people who have immigrated to the country and people from foreign backgrounds who represent different points of view in the multicultural council. Our common goal is to develop better and regionally equal social welfare and healthcare services as well as rescue services in a positive spirit.

Our goal is to find a customer council that represents the residents of the wellbeing services county as diversely as possible in terms of age, gender, residential area, cultural and language background. We are looking for members who are development-oriented and have at least a reasonable understanding of Swedish or Finnish. The customer council speaks Finnish and Swedish.

Because we want to specifically hear the views of customers in the customer councils, we do not select employees of the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia or persons elected as trustees of the wellbeing services county as members of the customer council.

Is the development of services for client or patient groups representing different cultures of foreign backgrounds important to you? Tell us about yourself and your thoughts about the position of the patient/client and its development in the open application. Please explain why you would like to join the multicultural council.

Send your application with contact information no later than 18 June, 2023.
