Radiology
The X-Ray Department carries out traditional x-ray examinations, ultrasound scans, mammography screenings, computed tomography scans, bone density measurements, magnetic resonance imaging, dental x-rays, and radiological procedures. Imaging examinations are carried out in support of diagnosing, which is why all examinations or procedures require a doctor’s referral.
The x-ray departments in Vaasa and Jakobstad perform on-call examinations around the clock. Examinations by appointment take place during the day.
X-ray examinations are performed by the unit / health center where the referral is written.
Our units are staffed by radiology specialists, residents, radiology nurses, medical physicists, department secretaries, ward domestics, and patient transporters – all in all, circa 80 employees. We carry out approximately 90,000 examinations and interventions in our units annually.
Vaasa Central Hospital’s X-Ray Department is located on the first floor of the F Wing. We also have units in Jakobstad, Kristinestad, Laihia, Närpes, and Malax.
