Basic Medical Education

The Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia actively participates in medical education through decentralized basic education. More than 700 students in different stages of their studies from the universities of Turku and Helsinki arrive to the region for decentralized education. Students can attend courses within primary health care and specialized health care.

Specialist Training

We offer doctors a modern, flexible, and competitive workplace as well as the support of competent staff. We aim to continuously develop the training of medical specialists. Doctors who have specialized in the Wellbeing Services County have assessed their training highly in several surveys.

AT (General Practice)

Are you studying in Sweden and wish to carry out your AT (allmäntjänstgöring) general practice here with us?

The Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia collaborates with Region Västerbotten within the framework of the AT educational path. Region Västerbotten and Vaasa Hospital District signed an agreement regarding the start of AT collaboration in the spring 2020. The first AT application process was carried out in our region in the autumn 2020, and the first AT doctors began working in Vaasa in January 2021. AT applications are received twice a year via Region Västerbotten’s application process.
