Fourth coronavirus vaccinations expanding in Ostrobothnia

The Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia has begun offering a fourth coronavirus vaccine to those living in home care or family care for seniors. The fourth dose of the vaccine is already recommended for all those who are over 80 years of age, living in care homes for the elderly and over 12 years of age who are severely immunocompromised.

The target group for the fourth vaccination will be gradually expanded in the welfare region. We hope that as many of the target groups as possible will take the fourth dose when it is their turn. The booster vaccine provides good protection against severe coronavirus disease,” says Chief Physician Peter Nieminen.

The fourth vaccine can be given three months after the third vaccine. Patients who have had coronavirus and received three vaccines do not need a fourth dose.

Vaccinations are given at home and at vaccination points

Vaccinations for senior clients in home care or family care will be provided through home care, in which case the vaccination will be given at home. Seniors in home care, clients of family care or their carers do not have to book the vaccination time themselves, since the vaccination is provided by home care.

The vaccination is also offered to carers living in the same household. Carers can apply for a vaccination by making an appointment at their own vaccination point electronically or by telephone in accordance with local guidelines.

Changes in vaccination timetables will be announced when applicable.
