The pandemic and vaccine groups of the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia have met to discuss a possible expansion of the age and risk groups being offered a fourth coronavirus vaccine dose. The groups have assessed that the current epidemiological situation in Ostrobothnia means that there are no grounds to deviate from the vaccination recommendations given by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).

Coronavirus situation worsening again – Record number of patients in wards

The coronavirus situation in Ostrobothnia has taken a significant turn for the worse after the autumn holidays. Currently, there is a record number of patients who have tested positive for the coronavirus and are receiving hospital care. At the same time, nursing staff are absent due to sickness. The situation affects the ability of the healthcare system to function and can slow down access to non-urgent treatment.

A fourth coronavirus vaccine might be good for you – check if you belong to a vaccination group right now

Coronavirus vaccines are widely available in the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia. A fourth coronavirus vaccination is now being offered to those over 60 and to adults belonging to risk groups. According to a new recommendation from the Finnish Institute of Health and Welfare (THL), the elderly and those belonging to risk groups will be offered a new booster dose later in the autumn. According to estimates, new booster doses will be given in October at the earliest.
